How to use Potato Chat to send encrypted files?
Ops: which talks belong in Potato?
Put unpublished prices, contract wording, codes, and cross-border schedules in Potato. Archive signed contracts in email. Open with a saved reply: "This channel is encrypted; send originals, not a copy from another app."
Domestic and overseas teammates share the same desktop build. Pin rules in group announcements. Share an invite once through a second channel, not a public group.
Product: why are messages, calls, and files end-to-end encrypted?
Potato creates session keys on the devices. Text, voice/video calls, and attachments share one end-to-end path. The server never sees plaintext. That is not the same as encrypting only the transport pipe.
Instant multi-device sync moves ciphertext session state. Start on the phone, continue on the PC, without copying history yourself.
Features: how do I use the Potato toolbox?
- Saved replies: store confirmations and quote templates, insert, then send.
- AI openers: generate a first line by scene, then you confirm before send.
- In-app translation: read original and translation without leaving the thread.
- Chat skill library: guides grouped by scenario for clients, teams, and mixed-language rooms.
- Theme and alerts: wallpaper, theme, and notifications so the app feels like yours.
How-to: add and send a saved reply
- Install from the Potato download page and sign in.
- Open Settings → Saved replies. Create a phrase such as “Please send the uncompressed original.”
- Insert it in a chat and send. The message is end-to-end encrypted.
- If languages differ, open live translation on the bubble. Do not paste the whole thread into an external site.
How-to: create and send a local file
- Create brief.pdf or export a camera original. Stay under 2 GB. Skip real names in the filename.
- Choose Send file and deliver it once. Default is no compression.
- The other side receives the original, not a social-app preview.
- Archive contracts elsewhere. Potato is not a drive replacement.
What else should I watch when sending in Potato?
Screen share exposes other windows that are not in the encrypted thread. Do not share a secret desktop. Install only from pc-potato.com. Group admins should pin announcements so rules are not buried.
